What is dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty of neurobiological origin that affects the accuracy and fluency of reading and writing. It affects approximately 10% of the population. Dyslexia is not related to intelligence — many dyslexic people have above-average IQ. It results from differences in phonological language processing and can co-occur with other conditions (ADHD, dyspraxia, dyscalculia).
Common signs in adults
In adults, dyslexia may manifest as: slow and laboured reading, persistent spelling difficulties, letter confusion (b/d, p/q), difficulty memorising sequences (phone numbers, dates), significant fatigue when reading, and a preference for visual or oral formats. Many dyslexic adults have developed effective compensation strategies.
About the test
This dyslexia screening test is based on scientifically validated criteria for adults. It evaluates the main dimensions associated with dyslexia: phonological processing, reading speed, verbal working memory, and spelling. This test is a screening tool, not a clinical diagnosis.
